Highlight of Last Week:
With October comes spooky game season, and it’s hard to keep up with all the great horror games coming out. I’ve been playing some old Supermassive games this month, including Little Hope which really captures the feel of the season for me. With that said, the Until Dawn remake is going on my wishlist. To be honest, the price tag is a bit high if you’ve played the original like I have. A sale would give me a good excuse to play it again all dressed up for the PS5 someday. If you’ve never played it though, the remake might make for a good October game.
Coming This Week
Metaphor: ReFantazio is sure to get some attention from RPG fans this week when it releases on Playstation and Xbox consoles as well as PC on Friday, October 11th. Michael McWhertor wrote up an extensive preview over at Polygon that’s worth a read.
The Silent Hill 2 remake is finally a reality this week, and I can’t wait. Checking out the impressions from the folks at Easy Allies (above) was a relief after months of wondering if the remake could live up to the hype. It’s out on PS5 and PC Tuesday October 8th.
An indie game release that caught my eye is Last Time I Saw You. Set in 1980s Japan, it promises an engaging narrative to go along with what looks like a gorgeous art style. Listed at $16.99, it’s going to be hard to pass up. Last Time I Saw You releases on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch, and PC on Thursday, October 10th.
Though it’s not a new release, I want to highlight To the Moon releasing on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S this week on Tuesday, October 8th. To the Moon is one of my favorite games, and seeing it continue to come out on more platforms makes me smile. Since it was released on PC way back in 2011, it’s come to iOS, Android, and Switch over the years. Honestly, it’s a great game for a handheld, but if you haven’t experienced its moving story yet, consider this your chance on current generation consoles.
